Wed, 16 Apr 2008 16:45:25 PDT
Few of us will ever forget where we were and how we felt when we heard the news: A student had opened fire at a peer institution and mercilessly killed 32 students, faculty and staff before killing himself. Today marks the one-year anniversary of that horrific Virginia Tech massacre. April 16, 2007. I remember the shock and horror felt across campus that day. College students all over the country were shaken by the news. The sobering realization that “it could have happened here” prompted un

Stars in Rewind With all the news bits about Cynthia Nixon successfully battling cancer a few years ago, and the fact that the movie version of Sex and the City will hit theaters soon, I can't help but think of the actress' first movie role -- playing Sunshine in Little Darlings. Being a kid of the Poison Ivy camp movie generation, I didn't hear about Little Darlings until about 2001, when an old roommate of mine was shocked at the discovery that I hadn't seen it. The neatest thing about our readership is the diverse backgrounds. All professions, many different points of view have always reaffirmed my passion for exploring unspoken topics on the site. Of even smaller demographic is the black nerd. You know, the guys and gals who majored in math, know how to program their own piece of software, and probably have some affinity for anime or manga. American Idol Top 7: A Vision, or a Watered-Down Version?
Wed, 16 Apr 2008 16:51:15 PDT
Mariah Carey night on American Idol began on a rather solemn note, as host Ryan Seacrest remarked that all were “still feeling the shock waves here after last week’s surprising departure by Michael Johns.” As a chorus of boos filled the theater, he reminded us that “every single vote is vital.” But really, all that’s old news. Tomorrow someone else will be kicked to the curb and it will time to interview them. Who will it be? Superstar Mariah Carey mentored this week, and at the outset

Wed, 16 Apr 2008 16:51:26 PDT
2008 Broncos Schedule Finalized It looks like an interesting season as far as the schedule goes. The Broncos will be traveling to the east coast quite a bit, and teams (Miami, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, and Buffalo) that usually don’t visit Invesco field will be braving the cold Mile High air. There will be two Monday night games, and a later bye week than the team is used to. Their schedule is not too difficult aside from the Monday night game in New England and the final regular season game in
Astronaut Tosses First Pitch at Yanks/Sox Game from Space
Wed, 16 Apr 2008 16:52:25 PDT
We've become used to the sight of astronauts taking the field at the opening of a baseball game to deliver the ceremonial first pitch. Today, though, the New York Yankees invited an astronaut to throw out the ball from orbit, over 200 miles above their famous stadium. As if the fierce century-long rivalry between the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox needed any more promotion to gin up interest in a contest, tonight's game got an out-of-this-world introduction. Longtime Yankee fan Garrett Reisman,
