Now, you have to be smart and decide if this plot of land will be a good foundation in which you want to build off. That plot of land will have to stand up to the weather conditions in your area, construction damages and more. Is the location great for the busi

The Church and Its Gospel Mission

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 07:29:27 PDT
Church Matters shares the following poll: I (my church) focus more on the Epistles or the Gospels. I (my church) believe the mission of the Gospel is advanced by proclamation or demonstration. I (my church) believe the goal of local evangelism is to grow my church of to grow the church. I (my church) see the Kingdom of God as a future heavenly reality or a present reality on earth. I (my church) believe conversion is a singular decision or a journey over time. I (my church) believe the G

Why does Maria Sharpova Look Like Heidi Klum?

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 07:30:02 PDT
Bet you thought it was Heidi, right? Last night when we spotted Maria Sharpova at her 21st birthday bash, we could have sworn that the tennis beauty was Project Runway’s own model judge. (Actually, I thought it was Gweneth Paltrow and had Rebecca convinced as well). She looks complete different from her Powershot commercials, which has got me thinking about bangs and their wicked ability to age the young. Watch for them, they’ll creep up on you.

Former Fat Kids Make Predictably Uncomfortable Confessions in the ‘Observer’

Former Fat Kids Make Predictably Uncomfortable Confessions in the ‘Observer’ Photo: iStockphoto.comIt is a fundamental truth that in every New York Observer article, there is at least one quote that makes you stop and say, “Oh God. That person is going to get pilloried on the blogs later.” It may even be New York law at this point. Today that person is Stephanie Vann, 42, the great-niece of jewelry scion Harry Winston, who is featured in today's Observer trend piece about FFKs: Former Fat Ki

Logan Real: Arf, Arf

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 07:50:51 PDT
If Miami’s own Logan Real can stamp his signature stained-glass mosaic on your wallet, watchband, and even Blackberry case, why can’t he do it to your dog? His new leather dog collar will make your pooch the envy of South Beach. Pretty safe to say, it doesn’t hurt with the bitches either. accessories, pets, trends, updates

Rejoice with trembling

Bob Kauflin, in one of the promotional videos for his new book, comments on the "worship wars" and the need for healthy tensions in the way we think about worship: This is one of several short presentations presenting some of the material from Worship Matters: Leading Others to Encounter the Greatness of God most of the other videos are linked at the end of this one]. The book is described at Amazon, where the reader reviews are very favorable: Combining biblical foundations with real-world

Where’s the beach? The gray areas of market recovery.

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 08:02:01 PDT
photo credit: Pingu1963 If, like me, you are living in Scripps Ranch, you are living in a gray area. All things considered, that is a good thing. The San Diego Union Tribune published a heat map this morning showing foreclosure activity by zip code for San Diego County communities. Make no mistake, we are all effected to some degree by distress sales and while this map reflects bank-owned properties, it excludes another, arguably larger component of the distress sale market - the short

X Games Brazil

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 08:02:21 PDT
Despite the seriously crappy weather we’ve been experiencing here in Sao Paulo that’s wetting down all moods, the buildup is nevertheless mounting as the best athletes in skate, BMX and motocross are landing in Brazil’s concrete jungle this week for the world staging of the X Games at Anhembi to compete in various heats: street, vertical and best trick. It’s actually the very same spot where the city’s Carnaval is held and because of this very fact, I like to think (unscientifically, of course)

It also ranks them comparatively, includes scores and charts of freedom, details world trends, correlates religious freedom with measur

Where are the economists?

...The independent Energy Watch Group projects a major decline in global oil consumption from the current level of over 80 million barrels per day to 58 million by 2020 and 39 million by 2030 (not even half of current consumption). Since presently observed trends exclude filling the gap with nonexhaustible energy and green substitutes for refined oil products, the upbeat predictions about vigorous economic growth (accompanied by a slow but steady rise in oil consumption) during the coming decade

Fashion Trends: Ruffles

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 08:09:39 PDT
Feeling ruffled? We don't blame you: ruffles are yet another of this summer's fashion trends, and if you're looking for someone to blame, try Lanvin - their S/S 08 show was full of them, and, as usual, the high street haven't been slow to pick up the trend. This is...

Google Finance and BIOS

Google Finance and BIOS April 23rd, 2008 In the past two hours I noticed visitors from this URL: http://finance.google.com/finance?q=AAPL Checked it and found that my previous post with secondary bugcheck callback data from my Mac Mini running Windows Vista hit complex RSS feed triggers. I saved the picture of this historic moment. Click on it to enlarge: Has anyone studied the influence of crash dumps to stock market crashes? Perhaps there is some similarity between OS thread exceptions

Primary Day 8:05 am. The air is electric with excitement around here. The polls have opened in Pennsylvania, and all the morning shows have their cameras trained on the action. I haven't actually seen a voter yet, but I've seen a lot of news correspondents bracing for the onslaught. The pundits have checked in on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News to declare that Hillary should win by 5, 6, 7, or 8 points but really needs to win by 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11 points to remain credibly in the race. That's
